Technology is amazing and has gone hand in hand with progress in society and many industries. Green technology aids in getting homes energy efficient and aiding in improving people’s lives as well as the environment.
Here are 3 of those technologies in the works to improve our world.
Innovative Wind Turbines – Wind is one of the most readily available natural energy sources and has become one of the points of focus in green technology development. Wind turbines are beneficial for renewable wind energy but they have negative reviews with locals generally calling them ugly and noisy. Many companies like GE Renewable, Altaeros Energies and more are working on different types of wind energy innovations that will change the look of the wind energy industry. Buoyant airborne turbine, hybrid wind-hydro turbine, and the vortex bladeless wind turbine are just a few examples of new wind energy turbines in the works.
Edible plastic – Saltwater Brewery made green tech headlines with their edible six pack rings. Plastic pollution in the ocean has been a growing issue with danger to marine life who get caught & trapped in the debris. In an effort to help reduce ocean pollution and reduce the amount of plastic that ends up on the ocean, the brewery created an edible six pack ring in an effort to feed marine life instead of harming them. The biodegradable rings are made from barley and wheat extracted from the brewing process. That’s one way to enjoy your beer and take care of marine life at the same time.
Smart Fabric – Remember when you would drag your socks against the carpet in order to shock your siblings with the small charge of friction energy you create? With that idea in mind researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have developed a fabric that generates electricity. This technology works on the premise of harnessing the kinetic energy we already produce in our day to day lives. It is estimated to generate enough electricity to charge small electronic devices. That’s one way to charge your phone on the go! The fabric is not available for sale yet and research information is still coming out on the tech, but it’s still exciting that this is in our future.
These are just a few of many green technologies in development to help improve lives and protect the environment.
While you wait to access this amazing green technologies, you can still work on getting your home energy efficient improving the comfort of your home. Get your home energy inspection today!
